Many of these students in our neighborhood struggle in school and need more attention than teachers can give them. Tutoring not only helps students improve in school, it creates positive relationships with adult role models.
The Renewal Scholars Program offers one-on-one tutoring for an hour once a week after school or in the evening at Renewal’s office and community center near IPS 105.
The Renewal Scholars program is designed to help elementary school students living in the neighborhoods near Post and 42nd Street achieve academic success. It also allows volunteers to develop mentoring opportunities with students (and, ideally, their families) that allow us to walk side by side with them and help them navigate through whatever challenges they face. Ultimately, we believe that helping children and families succeed through strong relationships is one of the most effective ways we can work together to overcome both generational poverty and racism in our community.
